Journal Club 28/4/25

Yesterday we looked at three concepts: opinions, inspiration, and consultations.

If the question is ‘what should I add to my journal page?’

An opinion could be: add black polka dots.

Inspiration could be: adding lines with a fineliner, add a pattern using a template, add a collage of letters, glazing the page with pink.

A consultation could be: I would like to add shadows to this shape, how do I do that? Or, I am finding it hard to get smooth colour without streaks on the blue pants of the person I am painting, how do I do that?

All three concepts are valid, and, they each have their own outcome.

An opinion is constraining (and I know it could also provide a prompt for you to think of other options - but for the purpose of this lets just assume I am always right)

Inspiration allows for reflection and options.

A consultation increases your skill.
